My team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are reportedly set to fire Head Coach Raheem Morris after today’s game in Atlanta. The team has possibly been linked to former Titans Coach Jeff Fisher this weekend, who is one of the hottest coaching options for teams in the market for a Head Coach.
It’s said that ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting this news, although at this point I haven’t seen the story linked to him. It has also been reported that Fisher, has was spotted at the Bucs hotel this weekend in Atlanta, where they will finish out the regular season vs. the Falcons. It should also be noted though, that Fisher’s son, Trent, plays safety for the Auburn Tigers, who played in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl last night in Atlanta.
Morris was promoted to Head Coach in January of 2009, a month after he was named Defensive Coordinator in December of 2008, to replace Monte Kiffin and Jon Gruden respectively. His record as a Head Coach is 17-39, it will be interesting to see how this story plays out. Bucs fans how do you feel about the prospect of Morris out and Fisher in? Hit the comments and let us know!
[***UPDATED***] As reported yesterday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired Raheem Morris, with a 17-39 record as a head coach, it can’t come as much of a surprise. Ending the season on a 10 game losing streak didn’t help matters either. I’m sure he will get another shot at some point, but he might have been elevated to Head Coach a bit too soon, one month as Defensive Coordinator isn’t exactly a great resume for a coach. I am sure he will get back into the game soon as a coordinator then eventually work his way back into a head coaching job again. It will be interesting to see if the Jeff Fisher rumors are true.
