The calender gods looked down on us this year as Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday, which makes this song by Outkast a shoe-in for our Throwback Thursday song of the week. Now we don’t necessarily keep up with our Throwback songs like we once used to, but this song had to be picked.

After Billie Joe Armstrong’s complete meltdown at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, it was only fitting that we bring back the ‘Throwback Thursday’ feature to Thoughts of a Jeanius. As Green Day was performing at the festival in Las Vegas, those in charge deemed it necessary to cut the band’s set from 45 minutes down to 25 minutes — and that pissed off Armstrong. It pissed him off so much that he dropped 21 f-bombs in a span of only a minute and a half.
My Throwback for today comes from the band Orgy. The band covered this song, “Blue Monday,” originally done by New Order. The song was an international hit, appearing everywhere, including on ‘TRL.’ I remember watching TRL and waiting to hear this song, and hoping they would play the longer, un-edited version.
If you’d like more information on the band, just be sure to include the word band somewhere in your search, or you may find something you don’t want.

I make my long-awaited return back to picking Throwbacks, Jean kicked me off of Tuesday’s pick. This week for my only pick, I’m going with “Inside Out” by Eve 6. I was sitting at my new spot downtown and a guy was playing this song inside, it sounded great acoustic and reminded me of this song, which was released back in ’98. Check out the video, linked below!

More Rock Throwbacks:
On today’s Throwback I wanted to showcase one of my favorite bands, The Deftones. I recently had a conversation with a friend about how great the band is so I wanted to give them the Throwback Thursday spotlight. The song comes off of my favorite Deftones album Around the Fur. Without further ado here’s My Own Summer (Shove It).
