Stan Van Gundy says there’s a Chance he may Never Coach Again

Former Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy told Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi on his morning radio show that there’s a chance he may never coach again. When Van Gundy was asked if there’s a chance he may never coach again, Van Gundy said, “I guess there’s a chance.”

“The reason I say that is because I don’t know when it will be a good time (to return),” Van Gundy added. “If I’m going to wait until everyone (his kids) is out of high school, we’re talking another four years. By then, I’d still be young enough, but I don’t know if there would be any interest (from NBA teams). Every year, you’re out of it, it gets harder and harder to get back in.”

Van Gundy cites his kids about to start high school as the main reason for not wanting to get back into the league. He said in the interview that he and his family love where they’re living, and said it would be hard to leave.

So, for now, it seems like the most we can enjoy out of Stan is through his radio and TV interviews, which is disappointing because he’s such an interesting coach to follow. But as we all know, family comes first so we can’t hate him for that decision.

Dwight Howard Has Added The Golden State Warriors To The List Of Teams He’s Considering

It’s that time of the year when everybody talks about where Dwight Howard will land in free agency, we did a great job of chronicling his waffling last summer with our handy, dandy Dwight Howard trade timeline. The speculation has already begun on what Dwight will do this summer; whether it be stay in Los Angeles, go to Houston (which is where I think he will wind up), possibly Dallas, or a return to his hometown of Atlanta. Well a new team has surfaced on his list, as well as what he will be looking for in a new team. Russ Bengtston suggested a revolutionary idea:

Apparently their run in the playoffs has intrigued Dwight, because Mark Medina is reporting that “sources close to the situation,” are saying that Dwight has now added the Golden State Warriors to his list of teams. The Warriors were considering renting Dwight out for the rest of last season, but that ultimately didn’t happen. Those sources are saying that Dwight is looking for “what team he feels has the best chance to win championships, has the best team and system around him.” With that said the only teams that make sense in my eyes are the Warriors or the Rockets, probably more so Golden State with their 3 point shooting, which could provide a similar inside-out offensive system like the one he played in, in Orlando.

The Orlando Magic Have Landed the Second Pick in Next Month’s Draft

The Orlando Magic entered tonight’s draft lottery with the best odds to win the top pick, and like the regular season, they came up just short landing the second pick. The Magic earned the second pick in next month’s June 27 draft after posting the league’s worst record at 20-62.

Many experts have Kentucky center Nerlens Noel as the top pick this year, who now could go to Cleveland.

So now what’s next for the Magic?

Steve Kyler of Hoops World has said that the team will be drafting the best available player rather than drafting based off of need. Kyler said that the team is stock piling assets at this point, and will most likely not trade the pick.

Many mock drafts have Kansas guard Ben McLemore being taken with the second pick, which would fit well into the Magic’s needs. Ultimately I would like to see the team pick up a point guard so perhaps they will look at Trey Burke.

The Dream just dropped his second single for the his new album IV Play. The track features Queen Bey and 2 Chainz.

When I first heard the snippet a few weeks ago, I got really excited. I love when Bey get’s ratchet. And you’re adding 2 chainz ignant ass…Yasss!

It has that slowed-down Texas feel.

The Dream usually brings out the bangers so I’m looking forward to this album.

I can just see myself, at the spot this summer, shorts, hair up, drink in the hand, twerkin and turnt up. I can’t wait for the visual. Bey is officially taking over summer 2013…I can feel it!

Ever since Michael Jordan retired (the first time) in 1993 sports writers and television analysts have been asking the question “who will be the next MJ,” and many names have been thrown out there over the years; Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson, to the more current Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Other than Kobe, who many will say is the closest to MJ, and Lebron who most compare to Magic Johnson instead. Well these days it’s still about comparing Lebron and MJ, even though their games are nothing alike. Well at a charity event in Miami, former Heat player Alonzo Mourning might have thrown Scottie Pippen under the bus.

VIDEO: Kanye West Performs New Songs on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Kanye West has had a productive couple of weeks. It all started when he tweeted out two words on May 2: “June Eighteen.” We now know that June 18 will be the release date for the newly-named Yeezus album.

On Friday night, West played a video of his new song, “New Slaves,” on the sides of 66 buildings across the globe. Then on Saturday we learned that his new album will be titled ”Yeezus.” Now we have video of West’s performance on ‘Saturday Night Live’:

The first song Kanye performed was “Black Skinhead”:

“Black Skinhead” was the first song West performed on the show, with the second song still to come. West sampled Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People” in “Skinhead,” which featured a Kanye-like visual performance behind him.

Kanye West’s New Album will be Titled “Yeezus”

It’s like Christmas around here on Thoughts of a Jeanius: Kanye West has new music on THEE way. That new music will come in the form of a new album to be dropped on June 18 — we learned last night — and now we have a name for that album: “Yeezus.”

According to Rap-Up, West’s upcoming album Yeezus will drop on June 18. Def Jam, however, has not responded to requests for comment on this report, says Billboard.

West performed two new songs off of the album on Wednesday on the Adult Swim Network, and returns to ‘Saturday Night Live’ tonight, where he will likely perform those same two songs. On Friday night, West debuted a video of “New Slaves” across the world on the sides of buildings, including one in Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Billboard confirmed that 2 Chainz, John Legend, Big Sean, Pusha T, and Skrillex are among the artists set to collaborate on Yeezus. We’ll see you in a couple of hours for video of West’s performance on ‘SNL.’

Last night, May 17th to be exact, Kanye West gave the world a preview of what’s to come on his new album. Mr. West broadcast his newest single “New Slave” throughout the night on 66 buildings in 10 major cities including New York, Toronto, Chicago, London, Paris and Berlin. Quite brilliant if you ask me, if Kanye was looking for a buzz he definitely created one.

The topic of Kanye’s news song touched on race and materialism, stressing the idea that we are the “New Slaves.”

Dwyane Wade Grants Miami Teenager With Her Wish, Surprises Her At Her Prom

While everybody is talking about Dwyane Wade‘s recent fashion choices, he did a pretty good deed for a South Florida high school teenager. Nicole Muxo from Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School posted a video on YouTube asking Wade to be her date for the prom, he never responded and instead opted to surprise her on prom night, last night.

She didn’t expect Wade to be able to attend because of the playoffs, but since the Heat are currently waiting for the Knicks-Pacers series to end he had his Friday night free. I am sure this was the reason she didn’t hear back from him, since he didn’t know if he’d be in the middle of a playoff series.

I am far from a Heat fan, but this was such a cool thing for him to do, if you’ll remember Kate Upton recently was asked to prom by a California teen, and will likely go depending on her schedule. For the record Muxo had another date, but he was fine with D. Wade showing up. LOL

Rihanna Goes Off On Instagram Follower Calls J.R. Smith “Desert Thirsty”

When J.R. Smith‘s struggles in the NBA Playoffs started everyone was quick to blame it on him hanging out with Rihanna. The two were in the same picture, not necessarily together (posted to the left), at a New York club after one of the Knick losses to the Celtics in the first round. It looks like one of Rih Rih’s Instagram followers blamed her for the New York guards struggles, and in true Rihanna fashion she went off of her. Even calling J.R. “desert thirsty.” J.R. is no stranger to controversy was fined $25,000 by the NBA for posting this inappropriate picture on Twitter, and also had some Twitter beef with Kris Humphries after a Knick loss to the Nets.

The girl who’s Instagram name is @Peruvian_Gawd posted a screenshot to her page of Rihanna’s response to her. No word on whether the picture was posted to Rihanna or the fans page, but here is what Rihanna told her:

It’s crazy how Rihanna does all the things that PR firms would say are nightmares; smoking weed in public, throwing up on stage, getting back together with Chris Brown, and cursing out fans, somehow she continues to win. Gotta respect the hustle, I would love to see if/how J.R. responds to this on and off the court, and if any inappropriate pictures of Rihanna surface.

[VIDEO] Recap Of The Annual Juice Tour 2013

So the first annual Juice High School Tour wrapped up last week, and to say that it was a success would be a HUGE understatement. The show stopped at five Central Florida high schools from the end of April into the beginning of May, and featured many artists such as Ivan, Chanelle Ray, Sean Ray, Famous Kid Brick, B. Smyth, and the creators of the “Cat Daddy,” The Rej3ctz.

Recap of the 2013 ‘Juice Tour:’

The tour stopped at Freedom High School, Deland High School, Colonial, High School, Oak Ridge High School, and Liberty High School over a two week period. A $1,000 scholarship as well as a DJ setup from Stanton were awarded to two students at each high school. Look forward to being a part of the ’2014 Juice Tour!’

Floyd Mayweather Tops ‘Sports Illustrated’s’ “Fortunate 50″ Top Paid American Athletes, Lebron Comes In Second

For the second time in as many years Floyd “Money” Mayweather top the Sports Illustrated “Fortunate 50,” which ranks the top 50 paid athletes playing professional sports in America, they can be foreign born but the league must be US based. The earning totals include; salary, winnings, bonuses, and endorsements. SI consulted with a sports marketing firm to contact; players’ associations, tour records, online databases, agents, and media reports. The top 5 included a boxer, two NBA players, an NFL player, and a golfer.

Floyd Mayweather, who took the top spot made $90 million just in salary and winnings alone, no endorsements. Here is the top 10 as well as how their earnings were split up:

Floyd Mayweather: $90 million (salary/winnings) + 0$ (endorsements) = $90 million (total)
Lebron James: $17,545,000 (salary/winnings) + $39 million (endorsements) = $56,545,000 (total)
Drew Brees: $40,000 (salary/winnings) + $7,800,000 (endorsements) = $47,800,000 (total)
Kobe Bryant: $27,800,000 (salary/winnings) + $19 million (endorsements) = $46,850,000 (total)
Tiger Woods: $7,839,027 (salary/winnings) + $33 million (endorsements) = $40,839,027 (total)
Phil Mickelson: $3,528,000 (salary/winnings) + $36 million (endorsements) = $39,528,000 (total)
Derrick Rose: $16,403,000 (salary/winnings) + $17 million (endorsements) = $33,403,000 (total)
Peyton Manning: $18 million (salary/winnings) + $13 million (endorsements) = $31 million (total)
Alex Rodriguez: $29 million (salary/winnings) + $900,000 (endorsements) = $29,900,000 (total)
Zack Greinke: $29 million (salary/winnings) + $20,000 (endorsements) = $29,020,000 (total)

A few notes on this list, before last year Tiger Woods topped the list every year since 2004, they also note that this is the first year that Lebron topped Kobe, and Tiger takes back the top spot for golfers leapfrogging Phil Mickelson.
