My homie DJ Young Smitchell, has taken a break from his On the Come Up mixtape series to bring you The Surge Vol. 1, and the title of this mixtape might have been named because he woke up on Saturday Morning decided to make a mixtape and went to work. The mixtape is a dope mix of old and new featuring some of your favorite artists; Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz, Drake, Aaliyah, and a special bonus track “That’s Real” by Ivan.

BET announced the nominees for their sixth annual BET Hip Hop Awards and my boy Kanye West leads the nominees with an unprecedented 17 nominations in 11 different categories for so many different things. A few other artists with multiple nominations are Jay Z, 2 Chainz, Drake, J. Cole and oddly enough, Ca$h Out.

It’s that time of the summer when DJ Khaled drops his annual summer banger. Khaled will be dropping his seventh studio album Kiss the Ring in three weeks (August 21st), the follow up to his 2011 album which saw him receive his first Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “I’m On One,” ft. (Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne). This album is led by “Take it to the Head,” (ft. Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Ross & Wayne) peaked at #6 on both the Rap & Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs charts and #56 on the Hot 100, and “I Wish You Would,” (ft. Kanye West & Ross).

2 Chainz who is one of the hottest and most in demand rappers in the game right now released the tracklist for his debut solo album Based On A Tru Story, which is set to hit stores and iTunes in about 2 weeks. In addition to some interesting song titles, he has some big names featured on the album; Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and even threw his old Playaz Circle partner Dolla Boy on the album.
