The NBA has announced that Knicks guard JR Smith has been suspended for one game following his elbow to the face of Celtics guard Jason Terry. The incident happened during Friday night’s game in the fourth quarter when Smith had the ball and tried to create separation from Terry, but instead hit him with an elbow in which he was hit with a flagrant two foul and subsequently ejected from the game.

The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching — Thursday at 3:00pm (ET) — if a team’s GM isn’t on the phone with another GM, the roster they have will be the one they move forward with for the rest of the season.
Some of the questions that will be answered will be whether the Magic will trade veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick, if the Lakers legitimately believe that they can keep convince Dwight Howard to re-sign with them this summer, and whether the Hawks will trade Josh Smith to a team willing to give him a max contract. Well some reports are saying that Howard could be on the move…… AGAIN!
Bad news for the struggling Boston Celtics who not only have lost six games in a row, they will now have to move forward for the rest of the season, and possibly the start of next season, without the services of their all star point guard Rajon Rondo.
The Lakers‘ struggles this season have done nothing but fuel trade rumors for just about everyone on the team (except Kobe Bryant), including one Dwight Howard. As the Brooklyn Nets were long-rumored to trade for Howard, they have once again found themselves in the rumors, as well as a few other teams.
Former Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy recently addressed those rumors and gave his take on the Lakers’ chances of retaining Howard on the David Baumann show on ESPN 1080 in Orlando:
As the February 21 trade deadline approaches, more and more trade rumors will surface regarding virtually any player, including JJ Redick. We posted on Thursday that the Boston Celtics were “ramping up” their interest in acquiring Redick, and today the requirements for acquiring Redick have surfaced.
