Throwback Tuesday: Jermaine Dupri feat. Da Brat & Usher – “The Party Continues”

We’re going back to 1998 for this week’s Throwback Tuesday, back when compilation albums were cool. Life in 1472 was one of the more successful ones. The album featured heavy-hitters such as; DMX, Mariah Carey, Jay Z, and obviously Da Brat and Usher, for this track. Surprisingly while doing my research for this song I found out that this was actually the most successful single on the album, considering most people think of “Money Aint’ a Thang,” and even “Sweetheart,” before this one. It hit top 30, 15, and 10 on the Hot 100, R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and Rap Singles, respectively. I always seem to forget about this song, but alas we’re reunited again!

So we’re going way back to 1994 (that’s 17 years) crazy for this Throwback Thursday double play. It features two female rappers who both made history in this year, I never realized that they both happened during the same year. First female rapper to have an album go platinum (Da Brat) and the first female rapper to win a Grammy in the rap category (Queen Latifah).
