It’s that time of the year when everybody talks about where Dwight Howard will land in free agency, we did a great job of chronicling his waffling last summer with our handy, dandy Dwight Howard trade timeline. The speculation has already begun on what Dwight will do this summer; whether it be stay in Los Angeles, go to Houston (which is where I think he will wind up), possibly Dallas, or a return to his hometown of Atlanta. Well a new team has surfaced on his list, as well as what he will be looking for in a new team. Russ Bengtston suggested a revolutionary idea:
Dwight Howard should only sign one-year deals so we can do this EVERY offseason!

Tuesday night’s Lakers-Magic game didn’t exactly pan out the way Magic fans wanted it to, but it at least provided some sort of closure to the whole Dwight Howard situation. The Lakers beat the Magic, 106-97, behind Howard’s 39-point performance at the Amway Center in his first game back since being traded to the Lakers.
I say the game provided some sort of closure for Magic fans because it really did. The game provided a venue for fans to yell, scream, and otherwise show Howard exactly how they felt in a way that didn’t make them look crazy. Yell and scream is exactly what Magic fans did — each time Howard touched the ball the arena filled with boos. It did become apparent, though, that as the game went on, those boos faded a bit.
The day everyone in Orlando has been waiting for — the day Dwight Howard returned to where it all started. The Lakers-Magic game in Orlando has been hyped up all season — more so in the past week — and it has finally come. Everyone was curious exactly how Orlando would welcome Howard back, and now we have found our answer. Howard returned to Orlando to a sea of boos from the sold-out crowd.
There is at least one person who believes Dwight Howard should be welcomed back to Orlando on Tuesday with cheers — not boos — and that person is the guy who used to coach Howard, Stan Van Gundy. In a radio interview with Mike Bianchi, Van Gundy said that Howard “should be greeted very well” when he returns to the Amway Center for the first time since being traded to the Lakers.
In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Dwight Howard offered up an apology to Orlando for the “Dwightmare” he put the team and city through last season. Howard admitted in the interview that he could have done some things differently.
