Once a weekly feature on Thoughts of a Jeanius, New Music Tuesday usually only makes its return when we really have something good to post – this week it’s June Haze. It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from June, at least new music wise.
In this latest song, June tells me he’s been on a “fun catchy song vibe” for the past couple of weeks, so “Cruisin’” might be a little different than what we’ve come to expect from him.
I had the opportunity to talk to June a couple of weeks ago to kind of give the new listeners an idea on what they can expect to hear from him, you can check out that interview after the new song, Cruisin’.
As we continue with our new feature of interviewing artists, I recently had the opportunity to talk to Queens rapper, June Haze. We have featured June on the site before, but this was the first time we’ve had the chance to talk to him. I really wanted to give the new June Haze listeners a chance to hear what he had to say and to get to know him.
We have new music for you from one of my new favorite artists, June Haze. Produced by True Tracks, “Once Upon A Time” is about doing what you need to do, to achieve your dreams and aspirations. Oh yeah, it also has a catchy hook and nice beat, listen to it below.
I decided to throw a couple of songs in this week in a second post after missing last week’s edition of New Music Tuesday. This week I’m giving both rock fans and hip-hop fans a song to listen to. Both acts that are featured are no strangers to Thoughts of a Jeanius, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise we have them back on.
The first song I’m featuring is the new single from Taproot, titled “No Surrender.” The song appears on their latest album The Episodes, which is available now. If you recall, the band was originally scheduled to play at Earthday Birthday back in April, but had to cancel due to a family emergency. It was announced just a couple of days ago they will be performing at the House of Blues on June 9 along with Hurt and Otherwise.
What up? It’s Cody doing a solo edition of New Music Tuesday, and I think I have some heat for you. Yesterday was a pretty big day in the hip-hop community with Meek Mill dropping his long-awaited Dreamchasers 2 mixtape. One of my favorite songs off of the tape is “A-1 Everything” with Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick is one of my favorite new rappers, giving my favorite, Lupe Fiasco, a run for his money. I like Kendrick so much I even started a website in his honor.
My other pick is from an artist repping Queens, June Haze. We’ve had him on here a couple of other times and have always seemed to feature a song better than the previous one. This one is titled “Puppet Strings” and features the same producer (Frantik) as the last song featured, which was my favorite June song at the time.
