There is already quite a bit of overlapping when it comes to the NBA and Hip Hop communities, in a league that has a majority of black players many players are friends with rappers. You also see a lot of rappers at games, players in videos, etc. Then of course a lot of rappers want to play sports, and unfortunately a lot of NBA players want to rap. Well some of them are going to get a chance to show their “skills on the mic.”
It’s that time of the summer when DJ Khaled drops his annual summer banger. Khaled will be dropping his seventh studio album Kiss the Ring in three weeks (August 21st), the follow up to his 2011 album which saw him receive his first Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “I’m On One,” ft. (Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne). This album is led by “Take it to the Head,” (ft. Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Ross & Wayne) peaked at #6 on both the Rap & Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs charts and #56 on the Hot 100, and “I Wish You Would,” (ft. Kanye West & Ross).

The only show on Viacom’s big three “music networks,” BET, MTV, & VH-1, that actually focuses on music, VH-1′s “Behind the Music,” is returning next month, and the full line-up for this season has been released. This season which will focus on the influence of R&B/Hip Hop on the millennial generation.
